Tecniks CVG01 Valve Grinding Paste is a dual-grade engine lapping compound made for the classic (and slightly messy) job of valve grinding / valve lapping. When you’re rebuilding or refreshing a cylinder head, valves and seats can develop minor pitting, carbon damage, or uneven contact patterns over time. This paste helps you mate the surfaces correctly, improving compression sealing and helping the head do its job without turning your engine into a wheezy vape machine. What it’s used for Lapping inlet and exhaust valves to achieve an even sealing surface Assisting cylinder head work after cleaning, de-coking, or light seat correction Helping produce a consistent “seat ring” contact pattern (when used properly) Coarse + Fine grades (why both matter) Coarse: used first to cut and correct minor imperfections and improve contact. Fine: used after coarse to refine the surface finish and help achieve a smoother, more complete seal. Good practice (aka “how not to ruin your day”) Keep paste off valve stems and guides (grit + guides = sadness). Clean everything thoroughly after lapping — any leftover abrasive can accelerate wear. Use sparingly; you’re lapping, not frosting a cake.
